2012 marks the 34th Bristol Balloon Fiesta, where yet again balloonists from all over the world come together to blow up their balloons and, weather permitting, take off into the sunset. The weather in this place is very temporamental, so some years we don’t see a full ascent. This year has been a bit more fruitful, and last night I witnessed a full ascent of over 100 hot air balloons of all shapes & sizes take to the skies over Bristol. We had a beautiful late-summer’s night, no wind, and glorious light. It is quite a sight when they are all drifting together, and every year I am curious as to why we find this quite so appealing. I am still pondering over whether I would like to actually jump into one of the baskets, more than ever this year I feel like it is something I must do.
